Centre willing to extend deadline for linking Aadhaar with various services till March 31

Attorney General told the Supreme Court that Aadhaar should remain mandatory for opening of new bank account.

The Centre on Thursday told the Supreme Court that it is willing to extend the deadline for linking Aadhaar with various services, including mobiles, to March 31, 2018.

The Supreme Court will on Friday pronounce its order on pleas seeking a stay on the Centre’s move of mandatory linking of Aadhaar with various schemes.

Attorney General told the Supreme Court that Aadhaar should remain mandatory for opening of new bank account.

The Supreme Court said a five-judge Constitution bench will commence from January 17 next year final hearing on pleas challenging Aadhaar. Source : ht
